I haven't forgotten you guys...

However, Emrys is going to whelp any time now (her temp has dropped) and I'm spending almost all of my spare time next to my baby girl dog. I even slept on the floor next to her last night because she's scared of thunder and couldn't jump on the bed.

I didn't know so many parts of my body could ache all at the same time.

By the next time I update, there should be cute puppy pix...

I probably need to be locked in a closet, and someone can throw food through the door at regular intervals. When you do throw the food in, remember to open the door real quick, chuck it in, and slam the door shut. Believe me, it would be better than the alternative!

Last night, oh my goddess last night… I shouldn't even get started on that but *dayum* it was horrible! I couldn't even have an uninterrupted Spindlers chat!

WingNut and I went out to the BX yesterday and bought a new washer. They had it on sale, and we had just enough money to buy it (and our old washer was kind enough to give us warning before it bit the dust!). So we bought the washer, went by my parents house and borrowed the furniture dolly so that we could move it around (and in the process my dad stepped very firmly on my toe, so it is now bruised and sore), and came home. At that time, I ordered a pizza and buffalo wings, and WingNut moved the old washer out of the mudroom, cleaned, etc.

I logged on to Spindlers chat (Wednesday is chat day) and was enjoying myself when I hear WingNut scream my name at the top of his lungs. Considering it wasn't a "yell" it was a scream, and he was alone in the mudroom, this promptly led me to jump up and run across the house. I open the mudroom door to the sound of *gushing water*. Seems that the spigot for the washer connection (you know, there are two of them) sheared OFF from the wall. Upon later inspection, it wasn't his fault because the spigot was clearly rusted through.

Now, we don't have a shutoff T-bar. I had to jump in the truck and drive to a friend's house to pick one up. It usually takes 10 minutes each way, and I was back in 9 minutes. Thank goodness there were no cops out on that stretch of road yesterday, I would have just *loved* getting a ticket on top of all this! Oh, that was sarcasm… LoL

Get back to the house, hold the hose over the gushing hole in the wall (hose directed a fair amount of water into the drain) while WingNut shut the water off. He looks at it and heads to Ace, and I wait for the pizza. The pizza delivery guy showed up on my front porch with my buffalo wings, I hand him my check and ask where my pizza is. He motions to his truck, so I stand there on the porch while he walks out to his truck, gets in, and *drives off*. With My Pizza.

So I call the customer service line, get a hold of a supervisor, and tried my damndest to be nice and tactful while I told her that I wanted my pizza delivered, and I wanted a reduced or free pizza because I didn't DO anything to deserve having my pizza not delivered. If I would have bitched, yelled, moaned, whatever at the delivery dude, I might have been more understanding of a busy night. However, I didn't do anything! She agreed with me (smart woman!) called the manager, and I got my pizza 30 minutes later with my check, which was returned to me. I didn't pay for anything because it came out of the delivery drivers' wage. (shrug) I'm not upset, all he would have had to do was read my order and get me my pizza.

Anyway, WingNut comes back from Ace to hear me ranting (quietly) on the phone, and figures out that although any other time we probably would have been able to fix the hookups ourselves, this was a mite bit beyond our actual collective experiences. I call the landlord to get a 24 hour plumber dispatched. Sorry, I wasn't waiting until the morning, because I have a 4 year old child in the house and there was *no water*. When the landlord starting hemming and hawing over sending in a plumber tonight, I handed the phone to WingNut. I love the fact that certain men, my husband included, can pretty much make you do what they want you to do if the action is called for. There was no "tomorrow we'll get a plumber out there", it was a "the plumber will be there in 20 minutes". Sure enough, the plumber was here 15 minutes later, driving a big new Ford extended cab step side jacked up monstrosity that he called a truck. Seriously! He was at home (thank goodness he was single, or I might have felt bad for his family) and basically just got up and drove over. An hour later, the spigot was replaced and we have running water.

Then I got online, bought two copies of Drawing Down the Moon by Margot Adler (I had my own copy many moons ago, but that was destroyed during a vindictive book burning bonfire by a certain person who shall go unnamed), one for myself and one for a friend. We need this book for our lessons with Isis Invicta for Military Members (hereafter referred to a IIMM). While I was on Amazon and in order to receive free shipping, I bought a book for WingNut too. He'll find out which book when it gets here, because I haven't told him that I bought it yet! I think he'll like it :

Now I'm trying to decide something knitting related, and I wanted y'all's opinions. Wendy knit an iPod cozy (or sweater, as she called it) out of KnitPicks Silk Twist, two rows of Prairie alternated with 2 rows of Olive. I'm seriously considering using this 2 row transition to knit Clapotis. What do y'all think? I already know I need to buy at least 9 skeins, because after a google search last night for "finished Clapotis" the first 12 blog hits had statements regarding the fact that in order to complete Clapotis to specifications, they had to go approximately 100 yards over the specified amount. Instead of approximately 600-650 yards, it needed 700-750. I hate running short. But anyway, what do y'all think of that idea?

Busy little person that I am...

Well progress has been made on many things… so much has happened in such a short period of time!

To make a long story short, a friend of the family was hospitalized Saturday morning with flesh eating bacteria. Two kids came to the daycare she works at and they were sick, and in true diabetic form (her form of diabetes, each case is different) she caught what they had and her body also developed a “boil”. Some diabetics do that. Anyway, she attempted to lance the boil herself, forcing the wound open and allowing some of it to drain, however a lot of it was pushed back and into surrounding fat tissue. Said family friend is very obese, and it ended up saving her life. The ER surgeons were able to operate successfully twice, performing basically a full frontal fat reduction surgery, to remove all the bacteria and affected tissue. She has in effect lost 100+ lbs via surgery in order to get to uninfected flesh. Without that fat in the way, the bacteria in all probability would have reached internal organs, which would have killed her.

She’s still in the hospital. The doctors estimate moving her out of ICU into a semi-private or private room by the weekend, and they estimate a month before she can released to go home. She will have to have extensive cosmetic surgery on her abdomen; however we are all grateful that she is alive.

Then I had a study group meeting for the Pagan/Neo-Pagan study group that I host. We came up with subject matter for the next year’s worth of assignments. That document in written up, expanded upon, and posted to the Yahoogroup for us. They know where it is. We have some interesting discussions and papers for the next year!

I’ve been asked to make a speech at the next TOPP Beltane event here in OKC. I’ve already responded to the person in charge of the event, confirming that I will speak. I’ve also had a friend ask me if she can refer to me, in essence “drop my name” to the Oklahoma Gazette reporter who’s apparently doing a piece on the Oklahoma Pagan/Neo-Pagan community. This I’m not too sure about… I don’t trust reporters. Every time I have read an article in this community, the reporter has twisted what was said (and I’ve read the interview transcripts!) to fit his/her needs which has cast a shadow on the community. We have enough “shadows” here without adding more, thanks muchly… this *is* the belt buckle of the Bible Belt! Oh, and apparently another Coven in the area, Silver Serpent Coven, is now linking to me personally as a contact person to the community. Add to this the link from T.O.T.E.M. (Trinity of the Eternal Moon Circle/Coven, they host the TOPP or The Oklahoma Pagan Path Beltane event) and the link from DRCC (Deep Root Community Center, the “community center project” for Pagans/Neo-Pagans, who I’m *not* involved with in any shape/fashion/form!) and for some reason people are beginning to believe that I’m a good contact person for the Oklahoma City Pagan/Neo-Pagan Community. I’m not sure whether to be honored because people think highly of me in this community, or scared because they haven’t chosen someone “better”. I guess I should get used to it though, because I’m going through IIMM training to become a Pagan Layperson (link between the Chaplain and Pagan/Neo-Pagan community on military bases), therefore my name shall become “public” to them soon as well. Well, when I finish the training that is.

On the knitting front, the socks are coming along. I’m about 4 inches into each sock, with about two more to go before I start to turn the heel. Get ready guys, there’s gonna be some serious cussing as I try to figure out the directions. KnitSteph says to follow the directions *exactly* as they are written, so I’m going to do that. All I know is if I screw up, something is going to get seriously hurt! (laughs)

Just a tad grumpy

Just grumpy… that’s my problem.

I’m hot. I’m sweaty. I almost got my ass kicked by a tape, however I did persevere and survive. I left my sock knitting project at the salon (thankfully Jenger was able to get it for me). I am just getting my moods back in order. I need a shower. Oh, and I’m broke.

I just haven’t had the most awesome of weeks. Monday morning, I went to the dentist and found out that I need a crown ($350 dollars, and that’s my co-pay), a couple fillings, and to have my front teeth (which are enameled because I had buck teeth) rebuilt in the back due to natural wear and tear. The good news is other than the crown, the out of pocket expense for the next three weeks worth of dental appointments will only be about $170 (20% is all I pay for “normal maintenance”). However, I need braces. Oh yes… I have a baby tooth still, baby tooth C, which is a canine. The adult tooth is impacted above baby tooth C, which is why I haven’t lost said baby tooth. Well, the baby tooth is finally breaking down, after 20+ years of being in residence. It lasted many years past its supposed “due date”. I guess I should have expected it. However, when the problem was brought up when I was fourteen and had *excellent* orthodontic insurance through my mom, the dentist told her (mom) that this wouldn’t cause me any problems and that we should just let it go. We trusted the dentist, and now here I am at age 25 and now it needs to be fixed… *and U.S. Concordia Dental doesn’t cover orthodontics past $1200 a year*. Because of all the other work I need to get done is eating that 1200, the cost of the braces and the oral surgery necessary to remove the baby canine and the slice & dice to get the bracket on the impacted canine has to be paid out of pocket. $3000 alone for the braces. That doesn’t cover the oral surgery, the orthodontist visits, maintenance, etc. Total estimated cost right now is around 5000K. I have no idea how we’re going to afford this. Even WingNut is stumped. The only option that we have is to hope that the baby canine stays in place and doesn’t “buckle” before I can get a job with orthodontic insurance. Oh, and don’t mention making payments. There are very few dentists that take unless forced (i.e. dental ERs), and I’ve already checked out the ones that do and they aren’t taking new patients. (sigh)

Other than that rant, which leads me into this one, I don’t have much going on. I want to knit socks. My current socks, with my only sets of U.S. size 1 needles, are at Jenger’s house. I don’t have any other dpns to start socks on. I was planning on getting another two sets (I wanted to work the socks at the same time) today, however yesterday I got an unpleasant surprise when I started up the truck. Seems that WingNut used the vast majority of the gas in the tank when he helped some friends move, and no gas was put in the truck to replace it. I’m not blaming him at all… I forget to put gas in the tank too sometimes. However, he was at work and instead of using the main account to get gas for the truck, I had to use my personal account. This doesn’t sound like a problem, except there was only $40 in the account to begin with. Why, oh why… it just rains small shit. The stuff that makes you want to scream, because it’s just thing after small thing, like water torture, drop after drop. I hate asking to use the regular account to buy knitting stuff… I know that some people will understand and some won’t. It just *bugs me*. That money is for *us*, the money in my account is for me. (sigh)

So anyway, now that I’ve been a total bitch, I want to thank everyone who complimented me on my new hairdo. Yes, I know it’s a bit extreme, the change from one style to another, however my sister is a cosmetologist and I’m used to extreme changes. I went from having waist length hair to having a 2 inch spiked cut with dyed tips once. It’s also been every color you can think of at one time or another. WingNut seems to think my hair is now a play toy… he likes to play with the curls. One of his students asked why I was making myself “more beautiful” because I “don’t have anybody to impress” because I’m already married. I told him that he was digging himself a hole. I’m glad that it looks decent though. I may not be model beautiful, but I’m too big a bitch to make a decent model anyway. Oh, and I’m very short. LoL

I’m going to go to bed now… hopefully tomorrow I’ll wake up on the *right* side of the bed.

1. Total amount of music files on your computer—None. They are all shared via the network, and are hosted on WingNut’s computer. He has many many more gigs of hard drive space than I do, so he’s the one with all the music on there taking up space.

2. The CD you last bought is—Ahhh jeez. To be honest, I don’t remember. I think it was the one that comes with Rune Mysteries and Magic, Feminity and the Runes (the title is Chants of Yggdrasil I believe)

3. What is the song you last listened to before reading this message? The theme song for Age of Empires. Seriously… I haven’t listened to anything since I got out of the truck this afternoon, and I didn’t get out until I heard the end of what was playing… Voodoo by Godsmack.

4. Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you: Hrm… very tough for me to do. I can only think of four right now.

Serenity by Godsmack. The lyrics alone to this song speak to me. Most likely because I’m usually a pretty stressed out puppy (I have ulcers, I admit to a little stress from time to time), and I do wonder about futility at times. This song helps to work me through those feelings.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day. Again, the lyrics get me every time.

Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie. I’ve actually felt like this a few times, and besides, I think it’s funny. (shrug) I already know I’m weird.

Wild Pagan Heart (Underneath the Neolithic Sky) Inkkubus Sukkubus. This song strikes a cord with me about the forcible abandonment of Paganism and the absorption of components of old Pagan faiths into practicing Christianity of today. When I hear it, it reminds me that I am free to practice as my heart sings, not as someone else would command. This doesn't mean that I have a problem with people practicing other faiths... in truth, diversity is a beautiful thing! However, I am glad that I can practice as I see fit, not as someone else has decreed.

5. Who are you going to pass this stick to? (3 persons) and why?

I’m passing this to Jenger because she’s a good friend of mine with good taste in music (old and new).

I’m passing this to Lori, because she’s just sweet and I love the pictures she posts (and I have to admit, I’m envious of the Chinese food!).

Last, but not least, I’m passing this to 24 Knits because she always manages to suck me in with her “3 Things” posts and its payback time :-).

Just another boring post...

I’m not busy… honestly; I’m in a kind of holding pattern. My job search is scheduled to begin after I get my hair cut/styled on Saturday. Well, and get my teeth cleaned and fillings on Monday. This is mostly because I can’t (and won’t) go looking for a job without looking my best. It’s just not possible for me. Besides, who trusts a sloppy pharmacy and medication technician? It’s not professional. No matter where I work, my ability to look professional reflects upon me as a person and the office/clinic/warehouse that I work. If a person is willing to hire someone who doesn’t at least take some kind of interest in how they appear, then they are expecting a shoddy person and I don’t want to work there. It’s amazing how it all works out.

But anyway… what’s on my needles

A new knitting bag! Pictures will be forthcoming… when I take them, that is. 2 skeins of Cascade 220 Quattro in color number 9347 (Purple Tweed) knitted together, will take a total of 3 skeins. The third skein is wound into a ball and then rewound into two balls, using a gram scale to divide the yarn as evenly as possible. This one will have a knitted handle and flap closure as long as everything works out ok. It’s taking so long only because it is miles and miles of endless repetitive stockinette stitch. So I get bored… shoot me! Oh, the reason for the bag is simple… I want it to look enough like a purse that people don’t question me, but it will be big enough to hold my wallet and a current small portable knitting project. Shhhhh! Don’t let my secret out, that I’ve taken to knitting two projects at once instead of just one!

Just cast on: the purple mosaic Opal sock yarn from Danielle. I bought another set of U.S. size 1 dpns in order to knit both socks at the same time (ten row increments, swapping socks) in order to provide me with the closest possible length match without having to worry about frogging. I haven’t figured out how to rip on circulars or dpns without losing stitches, and I hate tinking back more than a row or two. Didya see that? Socks! For me!

I’m fighting not to start one of the stashed sweater projects. I can’t do it right now… it just wouldn’t be right, considering how long it takes me to make anything. However, I told myself that when I finish *my socks* I will be casting on for either Butterfly or Eloise. I’m going to wait on Mariah for a while, probably until I can justify the cost of stashing for Rogue. I didn’t buy the yarn that I wanted to buy for Rogue because I had one of my weird feelings, and sure enough the money ended up being necessary for something else. I would love to have the yarn for Rogue (and it would only cost about $25 from Knitpicks) but in order to search for a job to provide play money/debt reduction (paying off my old student loan from 5 years ago and the S-10) I needed the haircut and style more than I could justify the cost of Rogue. Maybe next month… I’m trying to be optimistic. Is it working? LoL Besides, I just thought about this, but maybe working on Mariah first will help me with working on Rogue. Mariah has more “body cabling”, but Rogue’s hood and the grafting required actually kinda intimidate me. I’m sure that won’t last once I start it (I’m like a dog with a bone) but it’s just a thought.

Warning… cussing content ahead, the easily offended shouldn’t read!

I’m dying here… I thought this was hilariously funny (in my own twisted kind of way). Whether or not you agree, well that’s your issue, not mine. I just wanted to post it here… before I fell out of my chair.

I am 62% Asshole/Bitch.
Sort of Assholy or Bitchy!
I am abrasive, some people really hate me, but there may be a group of other tight knit assholes and bitches that I can hang out with and get me. Everybody else? Fuck ‘em.
